Wieder einmal ist einiges im Umbruch im Hause WotC. Für das nächste Jahr stehen einige tiefschürfende Veränderungen ins Haus. Welche das im Einzelnen sind?
Nachdem ja vor nicht allzu langer Zeit die Blockstruktur (von drei Sets pro Block auf zwei) geändert wurde, wird die Blockstruktur nun vollends abgeschafft. Es wird nur noch einzelne Sets geben, die unter Umständen thematisch an das darauffolgende Set gebunden sein werden, manchmal werden auch Mechaniken übernommen werden.
Weiter wird das mit Origins abgeschaffte Hauptset wieder eingeführt, jedoch wird es sich (wie die ersten Coresets) mehr an neue Spieler richten.
Die Wächter werden (und hier sage ich: Gottseidank!) ein wenig in den Hintergrund rücken, weitaus seltener im Mittelpunkt und auf Planeswalkerkarten zu finden sein.
Die Masterpiece-Serie wird ein wenig zurückgeschraubt. War zuerst angedacht, in jedem Block/Set eine Masterpiece-Serie zu veröffentlichen, wird dies nun doch nicht der Fall sein. Ixalan zum Beispiel wird über keine Masterpieces verfügen.
Alle Veränderungen (abgesehen von der Masterpiece-Serie, die zu Ixalan beginnt) treten im Sommer 2018, mit dem Erscheinen des auf Ixalan folgenden Sets in Kraft.
